Another Type of “Writing”

If you read my very first blog post as author, then you’ll already know that I love playing and teaching music! ๐Ÿ˜€

Well in the last year or two, I’ve been blessed to explore another part of music with my teacher, Amanda Tero–arranging!! I wanted to share a recording of me playing one of my recently finished arrangements. ๐Ÿ™‚

While arranging can be really frustrating sometimes (especially since I’m new to it!), it is also such a joy to be able to hear notes coming together in ways that are pleasant to the ear. When you’ve finally finished and mastered playing an arrangement, all the hard work is worth it (kind of like finishing a novel and getting to hold it in your hands!). Music is yet another of God’s wonderful gifts to us. ๐Ÿ™‚

There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of stepping back and admiring a neatly laid out page of music or words on a page and knowing that, by God’s grace, you wrote it! I’m very grateful for the opportunity to write novels and hymn arrangements (and share them with you!). Both require perseverance and diligence (which I always need to work on!). I pray that my music and writing bring glory to God and are an encouragement and blessing to YOU!

This Is My Father’s World

O let me ne’er forget
That though the wrong seems oft so strong,
God is the Ruler yet.
This is my Father’s world:
Why should my heart be sad?
The Lord is King: let the heavens ring!
God reigns; let earth be glad! — by Maltbie D. Babcock (1901)

And if you happen to play the piano or know someone who does, “This Is My Father’s World” is my very first arrangement which I’m going to make available to purchase on Very exciting to think of other musicians playing my arrangements!! ๐Ÿ˜€ I’m on holidays this week at the beach, but I hope to have it up there next week! This truly is my Father’s world, and I’m so grateful to be enjoying the musical sound of the crashing waves as I prepare this post!
